Fantastic Fireworks

September 9th, 2009

The Labor Day weekend was celebrated at Rye Playland with a fabulous fireworks finale. While for the past two months, every Wednesday and Friday evenings were marked with a fireworks display, nothing captures the end of the summer more than the Labor Day finale. Mark, Vicky, Zack and I (lifetime friends), were filled with emotion and awe as we witnessed the night sky.

The historical and magical background of the Playland Amusement Park dates back to 1928 and is still the only county government-owned park in the United States. In 1987 it was declared an historical landmark, saluting the art deco architecture and rich history that took place here. The boardwalk we strolled that evening overlooks the Long Island Sound and the fresh night air was the perfect antidote for the stresses of the day. Please sit back and share the beauty of the night with us:
